Exposed Aggregate — Gold Coast

Exposed aggregate reveals the natural stone within the concrete, giving a textured, decorative surface that suits driveways, paths and outdoor areas. It's one of the most popular finishes we install across the Gold Coast.

Applications

Exposed aggregate suits the surfaces that work hardest around a home. Driveways benefit from its hard-wearing texture and the street appeal it brings, while patios, alfresco areas and pool surrounds take on a natural stone look.

Front entries and side paths can carry the same finish, tying them in with the driveway so the whole property reads as one job.

Options and finishes

The aggregate blend determines the look — the stone size, the colour mix and how much contrast there is against the cement base. The cement itself can also be coloured, from neutral greys through to warmer tones, to complement the stone.

A sealer deepens the colour and makes the surface easier to clean. The sealing options are explained at handover so you know how to look after the finish.

What affects your quote

Every site is different, so we don't quote from a price list. These are the things Tony looks at during the site assessment before your written quote is prepared.

  • The look of the stone blend against your home and landscaping
  • Foot traffic — bare feet around pools versus vehicle traffic on driveways
  • Ongoing cleaning and resealing preferences
  • Matching or contrasting with existing concrete on the property

Exposed Aggregate FAQs

What does exposed aggregate look like?

The top layer of cement is washed back after pouring to reveal the decorative stone in the mix. The result is a textured surface with the colour and character of the chosen aggregate blend.

Is it suitable around pools?

It's commonly used around pools because of its texture. Comfort underfoot depends on the stone blend, so we discuss the options before you choose.

How do I maintain it?

Regular cleaning keeps it looking its best, and sealed surfaces benefit from periodic resealing. We provide care advice specific to your finish at handover.

Can it match my existing concrete?

We can often get close to an existing blend, but an exact match to aged concrete isn't always possible. Tony can show you samples during the site visit.
